Joseph was born May 23, 1830 in Hunningham, Warwickshire, England as one of 6 children of William Mansfield and Sarah Maycock. On October 19, 1852 at the age of 22 he married 19 year old Ann Maycock in England. They arrived in the USA 1856-1859 with 3 children. They lived in New Lafayette NY in 1860 and were in Gambier by 1963. In 1880 his occupation was identified as a “Quarry Man”.
