Alfred Sheasby family

Alfred Sheasby (1867-1941) and Emma Maycock Sheasby (1856-1920)

Alfred was born in October 1867 in Southam, Warwickshire, England with one older brother, Thomas.  In December 1885, at the age of 18, he married 29 year old Emma Maycock in England. Emma had previously been married to Thomas Allen and they had 4 children. Alfred and Emma arrived in the USA in 1891 with a stepdaughter and 3 children.

Alfred and Emma had 3 children:

Ada Emma Sheasby Byerly 1886-1961

William Herbert Sheasby 1887-1960 Confirmed Quarry Chapel April 16, 1903

Alfred Victor Sheasby 1895-1936 Confirmed Quarry Chapel May 17, 1912

His occupation was identified as “farmer”.

Alfred died June 1, 1941 at age 73 and is buried at Quarry Chapel. Emma died March 26, 1920 at age 64 and is buried alongside her husband.

Emma

Daniel Maycock (1812-1865) and wife Hanna Reach (1807-1873) lived in Hunningham Warwickshire, England. In 1841 and 1842 his occupation was listed as agricultural laborer and in 1861 as carter or porter.  The couple had 7 children including Alice (1838-1911). In 1851 at the age of 12, Alice was a house servant for the family of Henry Goff, a blacksmith.

On December 31, 1855, at the age of 17, Alice gave birth to daughter Emma.

In 1861, at age 5, Emma lived with her grandparents, Daniel and Hanna Maycock, and had the Maycock surname. Her occupation was listed as scholar.

Alice’s other children were:

Alfred          (1843-1902)

Hiram Hope (1849-1914)

Jane Louise (1870-1928)

In 1897 at age 47, Alice married Edward Hughes and all the children took the Hughes name.

Alice died in 1911 at age 73 in Dartford, Kent, England.

Descendants of the Sheasby family continue to be active with Quarry Chapel.
